I had 10 years experience in property management before my husband and I bought our first fixer upper, a house built in the 1980’s which needed everything doing to it. I project managed a 5 month refurbishment, transforming it from a 4 to a 5 bed property, with an open plan living area and increased kerb appeal.
After having my daughter, I took up a new job as a project manager for a local FTSE 350 finance company, while buying and fixing up two flats for the buy to let market.
We then bought another fixer upper, this time a 3-bedroom 1960s chalet style bungalow. We lived on site during the build, which definitely put my decluttering and organisational skills to the test! This was such an all-encompassing project, I quit the day job and Serene Spaces was born, with my first client being myself!
We added three new rooms, including an extra bedroom and two living spaces which meant having to lift off the roof! We converted the garage, added two en suites and a new family bathroom, made a large open plan living area and completely redesigned the garden to make the space inside flow to a ‘living deck’ outside.
We now have a light, bright, relaxing and calm space with areas for everyone in the family to escape to and relax in, an ethos which is at the very heart of my business.
